A Love Letter to Midlife, Slowing Down, & Grief

Dive into the Seeker of the Sea collection by Jo Harpur, inspired by the ocean's beauty. Each piece captures the essence of the sea in timeless elegance.

This piece was born from a deeply personal journey through menopause, a phase that required me to reflect on how I treated myself. The line "Thread Softly" from a beloved poem resonated with me, symbolizing the tenderness I needed during midlife. As I navigated the physical and emotional shifts, I realized how essential it was to offer myself grace, to handle myself gently, and to acknowledge the strength in softness.

During this time, the death of my mother was particularly difficult. Her loss deepened my need for self-care, as grief compounded the challenges of midlife. Creating this jewelry became a form of healing for me, a way to nurture myself through the pain and change. It is also a message to others—a quiet reminder for those going through their own transitions: to tread softly, to treat yourself with kindness, and to ask for that same gentleness from those around you.

In every thread and element of this piece, I’ve woven in the essence of self-compassion, and I hope it serves as a source of comfort and strength to others experiencing their own midlife changes, especially in times of loss.
